If you own your own firm, or are a partner in one, then your single most important task is generating revenue.
Getting paying clients into your firm is more important than:
- technical expertise
- literally anything else you can think of
Some tax pros will choose to argue with me on this, but I will summarily dismiss such arguments. If you can’t get clients in the door that pay you money, then all your experience and technical knowledge is useless. Utterly and absolutely useless — if you own the business.
With that said, perhaps there are things you have questions about, in relation to:
- generating leads
- follow up marketing
- converting leads into paying clients (that’s called “sales”)
- selling additional services to existing clients
If you have marketing or sales questions, I’d love to hear them. I’ll then occasionally answer those questions in new blog posts on TaxMarketingHQ.com, on new episodes of The Profitable Accountant podcast, and on a new CPE series.
Now, if this sort of sounds as if Jassen is running out of things to write and talk about, and he’s just trying to crowdsource content marketing ideas, well, then… Yes, that’s exactly what this is. And I’m not ashamed. 🙂
So if you have any questions about how to grow your firm, post them here. I have intentionally limited questions to 200 characters, which is a little bit longer than a tweet. This is to force you to give at least a little bit of thought into how to articulate your question. E.g., it needs to be something I can actually answer within, say, 5 to 10 minutes.
I obviously cannot guarantee where, when, or even if I’ll be able to answer your question. It will pretty much be on a first-come, first-served basis, as I write or present new material. That means you’ll need to stay tuned to these emails to see the answer to your question.
Lastly, if you’d like to hear me answer these marketing questions live, join me next Wednesday, June 2 for a new CPE series, which I have oh-so-creatively titled Tax Firm Marketing Q&A. CPAs only will be able to earn 1 CPE hour for this live webinar, but EAs and attorneys that own tax firms should also attend just for the sake of learning. My goal will be to present marketing best practices in response to your questions.
